Rotary D3450 Group Study Exchange 2012-13 from district 3450 hong kong/macao/mongolia to district 9640 QLD/NSW australia

D9640 Rotary Club of Goondiwindi

Rotary Club of Goondiwindi is hosting the D3450 GSE team from Mar 22 to Mar 26, 2012.

Goondiwindi is a rural town with a population of about 5700 people which services primary production industries including wheat, chickpeas, barley, sorghum, cotton, beef, fat lambs and wool.  Goondiwindi Rotary Club was chartered in 1954.  We presently have 27 members.

Our club is the furthest inland of all clubs in D9640 with our nearest Rotary club being some 200 Km away and the Gold Coast being some 400 Km away.  Throughout the year we are involved in the community with various activities including barbeque cooked meals and running our “Bozo Bus” which is very popular with the younger children in the town and district.  Some of our activities are done for fund raising while others are done for charity in the community.  We have also been involved in various Rotary youth programs, GSE incoming and outgoing teams, Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) projects overseas and the Rotary Youth Exchange Program (YEP) .

We also run various projects regularly including the Duck Races (our major annual fund raiser), the Brain Drain (popular annual quiz evening) and the Australia Day Breakfast.
